Friday, June 27, 2003Seattle, Washington Things are pretty nuts these days, but one thing that had us scratching our heads was how we were going to get to Nairobi with the British ban on flights from Heathrow to Nairobi. Well, lo and behold, the British government lifted the ban today. So instead of re-routing through Entebe, Uganda, we should be able to fly directly into Nairobi as planned. Hopefully things remain as fortuitous for the rest of the trip! Keep you fingers crosssed... Thursday, June 26, 2003Seattle, Washington Argh!! Actually we're quite excited about it, though don't ask if our house is ready for us to leave quite yet. I've been off work for 4 days now, but somehow the packing seems to be endless. Each day, we have had the same routine: wake up, pack, eat breakfast, pack, eat lunch, pack, eat dinner, pack, sleep - repeat the next day. At least our walls, drawers, closets and shelves are mostly empty. OF course, we're 'shocked' at how much we've accumulated over the past few years. Would you guys believe that we only moved here 4 years ago? My sister's wedding is only less than 2 days away now. I asked if she was nervous yet, and she said "no" - with the 'of course not' tone.. :) We'll see what happens on Saturday, right Eve? :) Guests are beginning to arrive so the countdown's really begun. Unfortunately our house is in quite a disarray and decorationless at this time, so hopefully my relatives can imagine what our usually cozy house would look like if we weren't leaving for a year. Weddings always translate into family reunions for us, and a lot of fun. As busy as we are with trying to get ready to leave, we're also looking forward to hanging out with our family and friends, who are here just for the special occasion (the wedding, not us leaving). hehe Well, I better get back to packing (yes, still). Talk to you all soon! p.s. can you believe I forgot to fill in my timesheet before I left work? now I have to go back to the library so I can get paid.. sheesh.. looking forward to the excuse to visit with my ex-coworkers though. |
