From Milford Sound, we headed back into the Otago region and spent some time around the Queenstown and Arrowtown area, taking in the autumn colours. We then cut through Haast to the West Coast, where we made our way up to the two famous glaciers, Fox and Franz Josef (see our special Fox Glacier page here). We continued north, doing some jade carving in Hokitika, and then some more West Coast sight-seeing before driving inland to Nelson. There, we enjoyed some traditional bone carving before heading up to Picton to take the ferry up to the North Island.
