We spent 14 days touring the National Parks of Kenya with a local safari outfit called Guerba. Sleeping in tents, cooking over an open fire, and bouncing around in an Mercedes safari truck, we experienced the Kenya safari up close and personal. It was the trip of a lifetime, with amazing images and memories.

We ended up shooting 24 rolls of film with a Canon Rebel 2000 SLR, and over 370 digital pictures with a Sony PC100 Digital Camcorder, not to mention capturing nine hours of video footage. We've put up the best of the digital pictures on this page, and will make a few more of the better pictures available soon. Please feel free to copy and take any pictures you want. We're assuming that you're probably a tour-mate if you're copying these picts; high resolution images of these shots are available too. Send us an e-mail at winston@yeungstuff.com if you'd like a high-rez copy, or just to let us know what you think of the picts (or if you plan to use any of these pictures for commercial purposes).

The Big Five
These five animals are called the Big Five because they once were regarded as being the five most prized animals to hunt. Now safari groups count themselves fortunate to have been able to see all of the Big Five; our group was lucky enough to see on two separate occasions the endanged Black Rhino, both times in the famous Masai Mara gamepark.

Buffalo

Cool Shots
These shots are some of my personal favourites; the digital camera worked out pretty well.

Stork in flight

Cheetah tracks

Elephant family

Colobus mid-jump

Flamingo fringe

Lion Cubs

Butts of Kenya
The tour name was actually "Faces of Kenya", but we kinda saw things from a different perspective...

Landscapes
The scenery was amazing, and the sunsets were particularly spectacular.

The Masai
Our safari outfit had made an arrangement with one Masai tribe to allow us to camp one night in their manyatta and take pictures of them without fear of retribution or demands for payment. A proud and distinctive people, the Masai we met certainly created indelible impressions on us.

Lions
We loved seeing lions, most of them being found in the Samburu and Masai Mara gameparks.

X-Rated
Nature in its full glory, uncensored and uncut.

Kills and Carcasses
We saw carcasses all over the place, ranging from just skeletons and bones to the freshly killed and recently scavanged.

Other Animals
There were so many different animals that we saw; here are some of the better pictures of them.

Cheetah

Colobus Monkey

The Crew and the Truck (not the Bus or Lorry...)
Here are the guys and the vehicle that made it all possible.

The Cast
Here are the folks who spent 14 days living together 24-7 with each other and the animals.
